BCS Requirements and Course Patterns

The information on this page is intended to help you to understand the BCS course requirements in order to plan your course schedule. Please note that you can always find out exactly what courses you need to take to finish your degree by consulting your academic audit. Also, please keep in mind that this page is for advising purposes only; if something is unclear here, please consult the calendar, which is the official version of our program requirements.

In order to use this page, you need to know your catalog year (or “calendar year”). Your catalog year is given on your audit, and is either the year you started the BCS program, or, if you’ve made changes to your program (e.g. changing streams), it’s the year you most recently did that. Students starting in the Fall of 2012 have catalog year 2012/13.

The degree requirements are given below as course patterns. The patterns show what a typical full-time student might take in each year of a full-time 4-year program. For catalog years before 2012/13, some of the required courses are no longer offered; replacement courses are noted.
