MediaWiki 2.0

MediaWiki is the software that drives Wikipedia and hundreds of other Wiki sites. It is a useable and useful piece of software, but could use a facelift. In particular, the editing interface is a little clunky. For this project I would like to make MediaWiki more dynamic using AJAX so that editing entries becomes simpler, more intuitive, and more streamlined. If possible, I would like to do all of this as a MediaWiki extension and still provide the ability to fall back to the standard MediaWiki interface on browsers that can't, or won't, support AJAX.
