Carleton University - School of Computer Science Undergraduate Honours Project Fall 2012 Social Gaming, Education and Security Murray Christopherson
ABSTRACT It is a common issue in the world of computing that many people are unfamiliar with computer security best practices. NetWarr is an attempt to teach about these skills in a fun way, by leveraging the power of social media to provide a context to the learning. The game created is intended to be a game first and foremost, but with elements of simulation to present real world security issues. We present a journaling and evaluation of the design process used, the first prototype of the game and the results of a short user study and play-test. The results of the play-test appear promising, and further development is being considered. |
