Carleton University - School of Computer Science Undergraduate Honours Project Winter 2012 Erecterra - Procedural Terrain Generation William Lang
ABSTRACT Procedural generation is a space saving technique that allows one to create rich and detailed noise manipulations. Procedural terrain generation is just one branch of this very versatile technique. Procedurally generated terrain allows a flexible and unique way to create aesthetically pleasing environments for electronic games. The potential for replay value is as infinite as the worlds that can be generated. In this project, procedural fractal terrain generation is explored to create a potentially infinite and visually appealing world. |
