Kinect Three-Dimmensional Mapping

ABSTRACT

The Kinect sensor and it’s recently released open source drivers offer previously unrealistic amenities to the field of three dimensional mapping and imaging. Capturing data with a Kinect from multiple positions allows for 360 degree modeling of objects and environments with unparalleled speed and accuracy if data sets are merged correctly. Combining a Kinect sensor with mobile capabilities creates an accelerating innovation in the mobile robot and three-dimensional mapping industry.
