Carleton University - School of Computer Science Undergraduate Honours Project Winter 2010 Monitoring Tool for Interprocess Communication on Linux Allen Robinson
ABSTRACT On Linux, there are tools for monitoring the usage of most system resources. However, none of these tools fully monitor the usage of interprocess communication. This report describes a tool that can be used to monitor interprocess communication on modern systems. The report begins with a brief overview of some related tools and why they are not capable of monitoring interprocess communication on modern systems. Next, an overview of the types of interprocess communication that are used on a modern system is given. Following that is a description of the work that was done to create the monitoring tool, and then some examples of the tool when certain types of interprocess communication are being used. The report concludes with some potential future uses of the tool. |
