Carleton University - School of Computer Science Undergraduate Honours Project Winter 2011 Automated Skeleton Mapping and 3D Model Building with Multiple 3D Cameras Christopher Whiten
ABSTRACT This report outlines investigative work done into using the 3D capabilities of the Microsoft Kinect sensor to produce interesting results in computer vision. I augmented the Kinect driver to be able to handle multiple camera connections, which allowed me to explore the possibilities of registering multiple cameras to account for data from multiple views. Along with several primitive algorithms, such as background subtraction and boundary detection, I explored and implemented algorithms for skeleton mapping and 3D model building. The applications for this technology are vast, and range from casual gaming to preservation via 3D reconstruction. |
