Carleton University - School of Computer Science Undergraduate Honours Project Winter 2010 Three-Dimensional Mapping and Imaging William Wilson
ABSTRACT The capturing of standard two-dimensional images is lacking in accurately representing three-dimensional spatial information that can be obtained from three-dimensional models. Similarly three-dimensional models are missing the texture and colour definition obtained through traditional imaging. Using a laser scanner and webcam rotating with the use of a servo, a three-dimensional model and its two-dimensional image can be captured simultaneously; after which their information can be merged resulting in three-dimensional accuracy without the compromise of visual texture and colour definition. |
