Network Printing

Printer Locations

HP1170 and 3341HP.

Requirements

  1. An Active SCS Windows Account
  2. A Campus Card with Funds - http://www.carleton.ca/campuscard/

Cost

SCS charges 9 cents per page.

Instructions

  1. Print your file from any SCS Windows Workstation
  2. Go to one of the printer release stations 1):
    • HP1170 - Open during TA hours
    • HP3341 - Open to all students.
  3. Swipe your Campus Card 2)
  4. Select your print job from the printer queue 3)
  5. Click Release Print Jobs on the release station.
  6. Click the PRINT button
  7. Make sure to click on EXIT so the money on your card is not accessible after you exit.
  8. Pick up your print job

Your print jobs will be accessible on any of the 3 SCS laser printers

Adding a lab printer to your Windows account

This document will show how you can add a lab printer to your Windows workstation. Please note that all the lab machines are already configured to print to a lab printer.

In order to add a lab printer you will need the following:

Add a printer network printer: START - Settings - Printers and Faxes then select “Add Printer”. Choose “Next” and select “Network Printer”. The following windows will appear:

For the Name enter

\\PRINTSRVII\scsprinters

and then you will be prompted for a username and password. For the “User name” enter “SCSNET3\” followed by your SCS account name. Also enter your SCS account name password. Press “Ok” and then you have added an SCS lab printer to your windows machine.

1) TIP: Check the printer display for any errors and check for a printer jam before you pay for your print job
2) TIP: Swipe card with magnetic strip facing you
3) TIP: You can select more than one job by right clicking on the track ball
