CCS IT Security Notice

CCS disinfects many computer viruses each day. The impact of having your PC infected varies in the following ways:

  • Corruption or loss of your data
  • Monitoring of your activities (including logging keystrokes) by a hacker, and
  • Use of your PC to attack another computer

New viruses are released onto the Internet daily. Your virus scanner must be updated regularly to ensure that your PC is not vulnerable to the most recent viruses.

Sophos Anti-Virus is the official anti-virus solution available on campus. Sophos Anti-Virus works on Windows, Linux, and MacIntosh computer systems and is available for use by faculty and staff as well as students who live in residence. For more information on Sophos Anti-Virus, please see the CCS website.

If you use a laptop, you must scan it twice a week, especially if it is used both at home and at work. If you are using a USB key or drive, you must scan it each time you reconnect it to your computer.
