SCS Windows/Vista Lab User Upgrade Information
There are some exciting changes happening at SCS concerning the Windows labs. The technical staff are in the process of upgrading:
- the file server (more space for users!)
- improved login times
- updated software applications
- newer computer hardware
In order to facilitate the changes all users will need to create a new account on the new server. Read the docs below if you need to recover any old files from your old account.
You will benefit from these changes during the Fall 2009 term.

How to recover files from your old account
There are three machines available in HP3341 that are connected to the old file server, they are labeled as such. You can log into those machines using your old account and password and then copy your files.
Bring your USB pen when you copy your files
I forgot my password on the old system!
If you forgot your password on the old system:
- go to one of the three machines in HP3341 that are part of the old network
- type in 'newacct' as the login with no password
- follow the instructions 1)
- login using your newly changed password

remember to choose 'change password'
