External Access Host: Access

If you require to transfer files to your SCS linux account or gain ssh access to the SCS network from outside of Carleton then you will need to use the SCS external access host:

  • Name: access.scs.carleton.ca
  • 134.117.29.70

Access has limited functionality and primarily acts as a gateway to the other SCS Linux machines. Note that you will need an ssh-2 client to connect to quest.

You need to have an SCS linux account in order to use access

PuTTY

PuTTY is a free implementation of Telnet and SSH for Windows and Unix platforms, along with an xterm terminal emulator. You can download a recent copy of putty here:

Winscp

WinSCP is an open source free SFTP client and FTP client for Windows. Its main function is safe copying of files between a local and a remote computer. This is a good way for you to transfer files to and from your linux account.

Download the latest version of winscp and give it a try:
