Pine

Pine is a simple command line Linux mail client. Here are instructions on how to set it up using the SCS mail server.

The pine configuration settings can be edited using the 'SETUP - (C) Config' pine option.

Personal Name = Your Name
User Domain = scs.carleton.ca
SMTP Server (for sending) = mail.scs.carleton.ca/novalidate-cert
Inbox Path = {imap.scs.carleton.ca:993/user=your_username/ssl/}INBOX

* make sure to replace 'your_username' with your login name

You can edit the pine configuration directly using the .pinerc file

Accessing your folders

If you log into access you can see your local folders. If your on another machine you will have to tell pine where your saved mail folders are. An easy way to do this is to edit the .pinerc file as follows:

folder-collections=access {imap.scs.carleton.ca:993/user=your_username/ssl}[]

This will point your saved mail folders to your access.scs.carleton.ca accounts mail folder (~your_username/mail)
