Thunderbird, an email client produced by a non-profit, public benefit company, can be used to connect to imap enabled mail servers 1).
Once you download and install thunderbird you can use the installation wizard to setup your mail connection. If you have already installed thunderbird then go to Tools → Account Settings

Go to Tools → Account Settings → Outgoing Server (SMTP)
The main Account Settings screen (Figure 1) has the 'Outgoing Server (SMTP)' link on the left hand side. Once on the 'Outgoing Server (SMTP)' enter the Outgoing Mail server settings:

You must accept the web certificate permanently in order for you to access the SCS mail server. You will be presented with the window below - accept the certificate permanently and continue.

To see your network mail folders you will have to subscribe them using the File → Subscribe option screen.

There is a plugin you can download that will enable you to read outlook encoded email attachments. Those attachments are named winmail.dat. This plugin will allow you to decode the attachment and read the contents of winmail.dat.
