Web Editor Help Page

This page is intended for SCS faculty, staff, adjuncts, and sessionals. The online SCS web-editor allows the people at SCS to add, change, or update their personal profiles. In addition you can add your courses online. The requirement is that you have an SCS linux account and select permissions to access the site.

The web-editor URL is: http://www.scs.carleton.ca/webeditor

Login Authentication

In order to login to the web editor you will need to provide:

 1. Your login (same as your SCS email account)
 2. Your password (same as your SCS email account)
 3. The answer to the challenge

* If you require access and your not setup you will need to see the Network Administrator.

Common System Messages

Error: Challenge

The third item of the login screen asks to identify the number of Carleton logo's that are displayed. Your answer to the challenge was incorrect.

The 'challenge' system is used on many login screens to prevent automated login attempts. Some popular systems use distorted words for example.

Incorrect username or password

Your login name is not correct or your password is incorrect. Try logging into your SCS email or an SCS zeta machine as a test. If you don't have an SCS account then please contact the Network Administrator.

Access Denied: You do not have access to this page.

You will need to see the Network Administrator if you wish to edit the page.

The file is currently in use

This message indicates that another user is currently editing the file. The message contains a date and a person that has the file checked out. You will need to contact the person and ask them to save the file (this will release the lock).
