Coordinated Particle Tracing
Speaker: Chujia Wei

Location: 3101 CB (Canal Building)
ABSTRACT

Creating stylized graphs has been an interesting topic and can be used in many areas, such as generating photorealistic textures, engraving an input image. Using the technique of releasing particles and tracing their paths can obtain us an output image with objects shaped by curves. One example is to simulate the texture of mushroom gills. However, as far as we are aware, in all of the algorithms using particle tracing method, particles are working independently. To obtain a desired effect, we propose a new approach using coordinated particle systems where particles move and change direction and speed based on the movement of neighboring particles. By using our method, it will be able to transfer an input image into a stylized graph with parallel curves shaping the objects and matching the tones.
