ABSTRACT Today, the most common way to create 3D animated stories includes making use of high-end software such as Maya, Blender or we use motion capture techniques. Both these systems provide fine control over the motion, position and timing. But they usually have a certain high level of complexity which makes them inaccessible to casual user. I will be giving an insight into producing 3D animations using a Kinect-based interface. Puppeteers can load 3D models into the system and use them as puppets for an animation. This system allows for physically manipulation the puppets in front of a Kinect sensor. The system operates in real time so the puppeteers can immediately see the resulting animation and make adjustments on the fly. The focus of this system is on object tracking rather than object scanning. |
