Biography
Professor Deugo received a Ph.D. from Carleton University in 1993 and joined the School of Computer Science at Carleton University in 1997. Professor Deugo's research is Open Source Software and its applications. His research interests include the use and extension of Open Source software in various domains, including pervasive computing, RFID applications, and Eclipse. Before joining Carleton, Professor Deugo was the Director of Java Services at The Object People where he both participated and directed a group developing course materials and performing Enterprise Java mentoring, consulting and training. He was the past Editor-In-Chief of Java Report a technical magazine with a circulation of 30,000 and a past columnist for Application Development Trends. Professor Deugo has been involved with all forms of object technology for more than 21 years as a consultant, project mentor, developer and educator. Past research activities include the development of pattern search tools and techniques, the analysis and optimization of network connections in peer-to-peer systems using Genetic Algorithms, the development of a collaborative work environment using Eclipse, and the design and evaluation of peer-to-peer protocols using large-scale simulation. Recently, he started the Eclipse Technology Education Project (ECESIS), where he is the lead contributor and committer to the project. He has served on the program committees of many conferences and has been the Program Chair for Eclipse Con and PloP, and the Communication Chair for OOPSLA. Dwight Deugo is currently teaching:
