The robotics lab is actively researching algorithms and programming techniques for controlling robots for various applications. The lab hosts a large K2A mobile platform with a sonar ring and 3D camera system, a Trilobot robot and PC based robot, as well as 12 modified BOE bots from Parallax Inc. A 4-webcam camera tracking system provides a local GPS system operating within a 10'x14' roaming area. The research group is actively working on multi-robot algorithms dealing with multi-robot mapping and navigation as well as various coordination and communication algorithms such as hierarchical communication strategies that provide more efficient and robust solutions to applications with a higher degree of complexity.
