Prof. Dandamudi was born in Andhra Pradesh, India. He received a B.E. degree in Electronics and Communications Engineering from the University of Mysore, India and an M.Tech. degree in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras (Chennai), India. He obtained his M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Computer Science from the University of Saskatchewan, Saskatoon in 1984 and 1988, respectively.
Prof. Dandamudi joined the School of Computer Science as an Assistant Professor in 1988. He was promoted to the rank of full Professor in 2000.
He is an Associate Editor for the International Journal of Computers and Their Applications.
He received the Carleton University's Research Achievement Award in 2002.
He published his first book Hierarchical Hypercube Multicomputer Interconnection Networks in 1991. His second book Introduction to Assembly Language Programming: From 8086 to Pentium, was published in 1998 by Springer, New York. His recent books are Fundamentals of Computer Organization and Design (published in January 2003 by Springer, New York) and Hierarchical Scheduling in Parallel and Cluster Systems (published in May 2003 by Kluwer Academic Publishers, New York).
He was the Graduate Supervisor of the School from 1991-1994 and Director of the Ottawa-Carleton Institute for Computer Science from 1992-1994. He was the director of the Centre for Parallel and Distributed Systems from 1996-2000.
