Title: A Practical Buses Protocol for Anonymous Network Communication Author: Andreas Hirt Abstract: Anonymous network communication allows individuals to communicate freely while concealing the identities of the sender, receiver, or both from traffic analysis. Applications such as electronic voting, electronic counselling, and military communications require anonymity to renounce the fear of retribution from a third party. However, previous analysis has shown that all the current anonymous communication schemes are either vulnerable to pre-existing anonymity attacks or do not scale well. In this talk we introduce a significantly modified Buses anonymous communication scheme that is both secure and scalable. A prototype of the new protocol, Practical Buses Protocol, is implemented and experimental results are presented.
